House Manager of Gibir House
Shiree Talbot is a strong advocate for the destigmatisation of people with lived experience of the criminal justice system, working to influence systemic change and promote social justice across both public and private sectors.
After completing earlier studies in Natural Therapies and Business Management, Shiree redirected her academic pathway and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Griffith University in 2011, a Diploma in Community Services in 2015, an Advanced Diploma in Community Services Leadership and Management in 2016, and postgraduate studies in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2022. She also completed the McKinsey Institute Ability2Execute Leadership and Management Training in 2023.
Since 2012, Shiree has worked extensively in child protection, supporting mothers involved in the criminal justice system to achieve restoration of their children following removal due to incarceration and parenting vulnerabilities. She has also contributed to sector reform through nine years of service on the Justice Health Human Research and Ethics Committee.
Shiree is currently a Research Fellow with the University of New South Wales on the ARC-funded Missing Girls Research Project – From Runaway Girls to Criminalised Women.
As House Manager of Gibir House, Shiree supports local men experiencing homelessness by overseeing their placement in short-term, supported accommodation. She plays a key role in creating a safe and stable environment, helping participants access the practical, cultural, and emotional support needed to heal and move forward.
