Gibir House

“Gibir” // Man (Wiradjuri Language)

Gibir House is a culturally safe, short-term accommodation service for men experiencing homelessness. While it has a strong cultural focus on Aboriginal traditions and community, Gibir House is inclusive of all men in need of support and are eligible for Temporary Accommodation through Homes NSW

Located in Dubbo, a central hub for the region, Gibir House provides secure and supported housing for men experiencing homelessness, housing instability, exiting custody, or on bail. The property includes 10 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a communal kitchen and lounge, disability access, and 24/7 security.

Guests can enter through Homes NSW, Link2Home or Set2Go and are required to follow the processes of Homes NSW, including all Temporary Accommodation requirements set out by the funding body.

Alongside accommodation, the Bunmabunmarra team provides a wide range of wraparound supports, including:

  • Case planning and service coordination.
  • Cultural programs to support reconnection with traditions, identity, and Country.
  • Life skills development, such as budgeting, cooking, and household management.
  • Group work and mentoring, including workshops on healthy relationships, emotional regulation, and personal development.
  • Access to health services, including physical, mental, and allied healthcare.
  • Employment coaching and job readiness support.
  • Housing advocacy and support to transition into longer-term accommodation, including local men’s refuges, social housing, aged care, private rentals, and joint tenancy or flatmate arrangements.
  • Recreational and wellbeing activities, such as gardening, arts, and weekend programs promoting health and connection.
  • Support navigating systems, including My Aged Care, NDIS, Corrective Services, and Family Law, through our strong community and service networks.
